A Stephen Ministry introductory workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at St. Pius Tenth Church, 3010 Chili Ave., Chili. The workshop is open to those interested in starting Stephen Ministries at their parishes or joining existing Stephen Ministries.

Stephen Ministry is nondenominational, and ministers are trained to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are experiencing grief/sorrow or hardships of any kind.

According to Bill Gustafson, a Stephen Minister from St. Pius Tenth Parish, the motivation behind the workshop is to attract interest in the ministry.

“We don’t have enough Stephen Ministers in our diocese or in the Rochester area in general,” Gustafson told the Catholic Courier Feb. 21.

Registration is $15 per person or $50 for a group of four or more people from the same congregation.
