St. Rita Church slates racial healing prayer service

The social-justice ministry at St. Rita Church in Webster will offer a racial healing prayer service May 17 in wake of a mass shooting in Buffalo May 14.

The prayer service will take place at 7 p.m. at the church at 1008 Maple Ave. All are invited to join the St. Rita community in praying for the shooting victims, their families and all who have been touched by the tragedy.

Several U.S. Catholic bishops expressed sorrow and called out racism and gun violence after the shooting, which left at least three injured and 10 dead. Authorities say the crime was likely motivated by racism.
