To cap off a spirited Catholic Schools week, St. Rita School held a kick-off event for the Olweus Anti-Bullying Program Jan. 31 in the school’s gymnasium. The internationally recognized whole-school program has been proven to prevent or reduce bullying in a school setting.

Students will take turns learning the about  the program. Staff members have alrerady been trained and parents were invited to informational meetings.

“Stopping bullying is a team effort," said Mary Ellen Wagner, St. Rita School principal. “If one child in our school is being bullied, that’s one too many.”   Ms. Wagner added, "this program reinforces the Gospel values that we teach and practice in our SRS community. Respect, kindness and compassion are of utmost importance to us."
