Students at Siena Catholic Academy in Brighton remembered the victims and survivors of the Holocaust May 24 during a day of special events at the school and at St. Thomas More Church. Speakers included Helen Levinson, a local Holocaust survivor who escaped from Majdanek concentration camp in Poland as a teenager. After Levinson spoke, students lit 48 candles to honor 48 survivors they studied for school projects on the Holocaust. Students also took part in a tree-planting ceremony and a prayer service.
