Students take part in holiday tradition

For the past 26 years, the students of Holy Family School in Elmira have participated in the Elmira Christmas Parade. The parade is traditionally scheduled for the day after Thanksgiving. This year nearly 50 Holy Family students turned out to sing and ride on the faith-based float before an estimated crowd of 10,000 spectators. The parade is also broadcast live on the local NBC television station. The school’s float depicts a “winter snow globe” with the original Holy Family inside the globe. The parade route stretches well over a mile, offering a run time of an hour and 15 minutes.
