To the editor:
I’m gratified to know that there is another reader, Ben Reed of Fairport — and we know there are many others — who holds the conviction that “global warming” is being put forth as a crisis when it’s actually a scam, a hoax and a fraud.
None of us will live long enough to know how this all shakes out and that includes Al Gore and his cohorts, but what is done in the meantime can only be detrimental to our economy, our security, and how we live our lives, wasting our efforts and dollars on useless remedies for a non-existent problem.
That Al Gore got a Nobel Prize for this theory boggles my mind. It further erodes the prestige of the prize although that’s been pretty much accomplished by awards to Yassar Arafat and Jimmy Carter — and others.
I’m disappointed that the Church is taking up this phony cause, it has other problems to address. Certainly I believe in thrift and conservation in all aspects of life; it’s only common sense to turn off lights in unoccupied rooms and to cut down on driving when gas is $3.30+ per gallon. But to phase out incandescent light bulbs?
