Deacons
The diaconate is one of the three degrees of the sacrament of Holy Orders. The Diocese of Rochester ordains some men to this ministry as a step toward priesthood and others for lifelong service as permanent deacons.
This collection includes news and features about the ministry of deacons within the Diocese of Rochester, including their service in the liturgy, parishes and the wider community. Coverage may address formation, ordinations, pastoral work and the experiences of deacons and their families, along with occasional reporting on diaconal ministry in other dioceses.
Men interested in discerning the permanent diaconate can learn about the process on the Diocese of Rochester’s Formation of Deacons page .
