Orders that have or had a presence in the Diocese of Rochester include the Basilian Fathers, Capuchin Franciscans of the Province of St. Mary, Carmelite Fathers, Discalced Carmelites, Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance (Trappists) at Abbey of the Genesee, Franciscan Sisters of the Allegany, Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart, Missionaries of the Precious Blood, Order of St. Benedict, Redemptorists, Sisters of Mercy, Society of Jesus (Jesuits), School Sisters of Notre Dame, Sisters of St. Joseph, and Sisters of the Cenacle.
