War in Ukraine

This collection of Catholic Courier articles represents world and local news coverage of events and impacts of the war in Ukraine, including responses from those in the Diocese of Rochester. There are four Ukrainian Catholic churches belonging to the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Stamford, Conn., within the Diocese of Rochester’s geographic boundaries. These include Ukrainian Church of the Epiphany and St. Josaphat Church, both in Rochester, along with Saint Nicholas Church in Elmira Heights, and Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Auburn.

Sometimes called the Russo-Ukrainian War or the Russia-Ukraine War, the war began in February 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea. Hostilities increased with Russia’s Feb. 2022 wide-scale invasion of Ukraine. Courier coverage of the war can be found in many sections of the website, including World & Nation, Finger Lakes region, and Multimedia.
