Talk emphasizes role of serving neighbors

On Oct. 30 St. Michael’s Parish in Lyons will host a presentation aimed at helping local Catholics understand the importance of serving their neighbors. “Who Is the Neighbor I am Called to Serve?” will take place in St. Michael’s church hall from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

During the first part of the presentation Sister of St. Joseph Janet Korn, social-justice awareness coordinator for diocesan Catholic Charities, will share stories from experiences she’s had while serving others. Fellow Sister of St. Joseph Catherine Gibbons will then provide specific examples of different ways Catholics — especially those in Wayne County — can help their neighbors. Sister Gibbons is faith-formation coordinator for St. Michael’s, St. John the Evangelist Parish in Clyde and St. Patrick’s Parish in Savannah.

For more information, contact Sister Gibbons at St. John’s at 315/923-3941.
