Teachers recommend kid-safe educational Web sites

Here are some family friendly and educational Web sites recommended by teachers at diocesan Catholic schools:

  • NetSmartzKids — games, activities and music to help kids learn about Internet safety, sponsored by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
  • Starfall— reading resources, games and activities.
  • Noggin — games and activities from Noggin, Nickelodeon’s television channel for preschoolers.
  • FunBrain — interactive, educational games for children of all ages from the Family Education Network.
  • Enchanted Learning — a user-supported site that offers educational resources and activities for children.
  • NSTeens — The NetSmartz site for teens.
  • National Geographic Kids — The children’s site of the National Geographic Society.
  • PBS Kids — Public Broadcasting Service’s site for children.
  • Ben’s Guide to U.S. Government for Kids — the educational component of GPO Access, the Government Printing Office’s service for legislative and regulatory information. The titular Ben is, of course, Benjamin Franklin.
  • Nye Labs — online home of Bill Nye, "The Science Guy."
