Each year, the Diocese of Rochester recognizes high-school seniors with Hands of Christ Awards for demonstrating Christian attitudes and being actively involved in their parishes, schools and communities. One of this year’s recipients was Owen Schwartz of St. Christopher Church in North Chili. Sixteen-year-old Owen passed away suddenly in March 2018 during his junior year at Churchville-Chili High School. During the Feb. 13 Hands of Christ ceremony at St. Pius Tenth Church in Chili, Owen’s parents, Julie and Mark, received the award on their son’s behalf from Bishop Salvatore R. Matano.
