Members of Rochester Emergency Action Committee for the Homeless (REACH) and representatives of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish announced the creation of a temporary homeless shelter during a Nov. 19 press conference at Rochester’s Our Lady of the Americas Church, where the shelter will be housed. It is set to open in late November and will operate until the spring of 2016, serving up to 30 homeless men and women who do not qualify for other area shelters.
Reginald Thomas, a recovering addict who was helped by Sanctuary Village and now lives on his own, talked to the media about his experience.
