To the editor:
We live in a dangerous world and as we witnessed in Sri Lanka recently Christian churches are often the target of terrorists attacks.
I can’t help but wonder what Catholic churches are doing to protect parishioners who attend Mass. I know my parish seems extremely vulnerable to an attack. Doors are unlocked, no apparent armed security. Someone who walks through the door with ill intentions doesn’t seem to have very much to impede them.
I know it’s a terrible shame that we need to consider defending our churches but not doing so is negligent. The church should not wait for a horrific attack before they decide to address the evil that surrounds us.
