To the editor:
I would like to take this time to thank everyone that send cards, money for my doctor’s bills, and said a prayer for me during the last year.
Bless you all.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Ms. Salerno was featured in the Courier’s July, 2008, article “Confronting the cost of care,” which addressed calls for reform of the nation’s health-care system. Ms. Salerno, who works at a diner six days a week, earns too much to qualify for Medicaid or Family Health Plus and has been paying out-of pocket for her medical bills. She currently is undergoing cancer treatment and said she’s just “taking it day by day.”
