The mid-summer view

Somehow I turned around and half of the summer is gone! Last week I was blessed to be at the ocean for five days with my family. Even though it has taken another week to recover from vacation, it was worth every one of the 2,000 e-mails waiting for me in my inbox. Being at the ocean gave me a moment to actually stop mid-summer and breathe for a moment. I did not go online, check e-mail or check messages. The cell phone was only used to check on dinner plans and make sure all of the families in the "big family" knew where to meet up. Listening to the waves crash and catching sight of the occasional dolphin did my soul good. It is so easy to forget the importance of time away. There is always so much to do. But without stepping back somehow, giving myself some perspective, I’m sure that I would have turned around and the whole summer would be gone. I hope that everyone finds a moment this summer, whether you go away or just unplug for a day of rest, to find a mid-summer view. Many blessings!
