There’s a Catholic app for that

EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the second of a two-part series on popular Catholic apps. (Most are available primarily for iPhone/iPad, but similar apps can be found for Android phones.) Part one was posted May 3.

Confession
  • Confession (A Roman Catholic App): The most controversial of all the Catholic apps. Offers personalized examination of conscience for each user, password-protected profiles and a step-by-step guide to the sacrament of Penance. Also available on Android phones. ($1.99)
  • Mea Culpa: Catholic examination of conscience for confession. ($1.99)
Prayer
  • Prayer 2000+ CATHOLIC PRAYERS: Prayer database offered in English, Latin, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German and French. ($1.99)
  • Catholic: A simple prayer app. Also comes in a “Lite” version for free. ($0.99)
  • iRosary: Has been featured on NPR, by Catholic News Service and by the USCCB on Catholic Radio Weekly. You can pray the rosary on your phone with a full set of beads that you move through your fingers like a real rosary. ($2.99)
  • Divine Office: An audio prayer and Liturgy of the Hours app. ($14.99)
Just plain useful
  • Catholic Mass Times Church Directory: Finds churches near current location or by ZIP code. Find Mass and confession times, get maps and directions, or browse church websites. (Free)
