Thousands to attend NY Eucharistic Congress

Thousands of New York Catholics, including dozens from the Diocese of Rochester, will gather at the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs in Auriesville this weekend for the New York State Eucharistic Congress.

The congress, organized by the eight Catholic dioceses in New York, is part of the U.S. bishops’ three-year National Eucharistic Revival.

The Oct. 20-22 congress will feature Masses, music, eucharistic adoration, talks from nationally known Catholic speakers, and opportunities for fellowship and socializing. Among those speakers is Lisa Lickona, an assistant professor of systematic theology at St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry in Pittsford.

On Oct. 21, buses from the Diocese of Rochester will be heading to the conference, including a bus from the Southern Tier and one departing from Honeoye in Ontario County.

Catholic Courier Digital Content Producer Gina Capellazzi and Chief Photographer Jeff Witherow will be heading to Auriesville for the congress. Look for their coverage on CatholicCourier.com and in the Courier’s November print edition. You also can follow their updates on Facebook and Instagram.
