Tickets are on sale for the eighth-annual Empty Bowls Luncheon, to be held Oct. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Elmira College Campus Center.
Empty Bowls, which coincides with World Food Day, serves as the main fundraiser for the Elmira area’s largest food pantry, the Catholic Charities Samaritan Center. Luncheon participants learn about the effects of hunger in their community and receive handmade commemorative soup bowls created by local potters.
