Tournament honors late Aquinas teacher

The 29th Annual Steve Centron Aquinas Scholarship Picnic & Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 9.

A nine-hole golf tournament begins at 9 a.m. at Pinewood Country Club, 1189 Ogden Parma Town Line Road. The cost is $30 per player, and includes admission to the picnic.

The picnic begins at 1 p.m. at the home of Tom Centron, 252 Parklands Drive, Greece, and will feature food, drinks, a beer raffle and musical entertainment by The Royals rock-pop band, featuring George Schnell, Joe Minotti and Aquinas Institute alumnus John Perevich.

The festivities are held in honor of Steve Centron, who died in a car accident on Christmas Eve 1977. Centron was a beloved teacher, coach and alumnus of Aquinas Institute.

Proceeds from the tournament and picnic go toward a scholarship for an Aquinas sophomore. For information, call 585/663-5787.
