Tuition assistance offered to children of St. Ann’s Community’s nursing staff
More families now have access to a Catholic education, thanks to a new partnership between St. Ann’s Community and the Diocese of Rochester’s Department of Catholic Schools. This partnership, a four-year pilot program, will provide tuition assistance to St. Ann’s eligible nursing staff members who send their children to Catholic schools.
The tuition-assistance program is open to both full-time and part-time benefit-earning licensed practical nurses and registered nurses at St. Ann’s Community locations in Irondequoit and Webster. These employees are eligible to receive tuition assistance of up to $3,000 per household for Catholic elementary and middle schools or up to $5,000 per household for Catholic high schools.
The partnership is fitting because St. Ann’s Community, which provides comprehensive care, housing and services for older adults, is rooted in Catholic tradition, according to Michael McRae, St. Ann’s president and CEO.
“We know how difficult it can be to send children to private school. As an organization founded in the Catholic tradition of excellence, we believe strongly in the value of a Catholic education,” McRae said in a statement. “If we can help support our nursing employees and defray some of those costs for their families, we see it as a win-win.”
The diocesan Department of Catholic Schools is grateful for the partnership, which will expand access to local Catholic schools, according to Anthony Cook III, superintendent of diocesan schools.
“Catholic education fosters a Christ-centered environment, academic excellence and service through meaningful partnerships between church, home, school and community,” Cook said in a statement.
