Tioga County will be graced by the presence of two bishops over the next few days.
Bishop John Yaw Afoakwah, who served as parochial vicar for Blessed Trinity/St. Patrick parishes from 2007-11, will celebrated a special "homecoming" Mass Wednesday, July 22, at 7 p.m. The liturgy will take place at St. Patrick Church, 300 Main St., Owego. Bishop Afoakwah was appointed by Pope Francis as the new bishop of the Diocese of Obuasi, Ghana, in November 2014.
In addition, Rochester Bishop Salvatore R. Matano is due to celebrate Mass Sunday, July 26, at 10:45 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1110 Pennsylvania Ave., Apalachin.
