Ukrainian church celebrates 100 years

St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 940 East Ridge Road,in Irondequoit, will conclude the year-long celebration of its 100th anniversary with a reunion of alumni of the former St. Josaphat Elementary School, a jubilee banquet and a pontifical Divine Liturgy.

The reunion will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in the former school building. The cost is $25 per person and will include grazing stations and a disc jockey. The jubilee banquet will be at 5 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Hyatt Hotel, 125 East Main St., Rochester; registrations have closed for that event.

St. Josaphat’s is a parish of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Stamford, Conn. The pontifical Divine Liturgy at 2 p.m. on Nov. 15 will be celebrated at St. Josaphat’s by the eparchy’s spiritual leader, Bishop Paul P. Chomnycky. The Divine Liturgy will be predominantly in Ukrainian, and will also feature a Ukrainian choir. For details, call the rectory at 585-467-6457.
