Used clothes raise funds for DeSales

A St. Pauly Textile used-clothing drop box has been placed in the parking lot of Madia’s Market, 316 Castle St. in Geneva. The proceeds from the box will support the DeSales High School Saints Club and will raise funds for the school’s sports and extracurricular programs.

Clean and dry clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, pillowcases and drapes can be placed in a plastic bag and dropped off at the box, which is open 24 hours a day. Rags, fabric scraps, pillows, toys and trash should not be dropped off at the box.

St. Pauly Textile is compensated for the clothing by another organization, which then distributes the clothing to those who need it around the world. For every 1,000 pounds collected in the drop box, DeSales High School will receive $40.

The school is looking for volunteers to help check the box and stack bags of clothing for pickup. Anyone interested in volunteering may call Lisa Kadien at 315/789-5111, ext. 232.
