St. Mary Church in Auburn will host a holiday concert by Musica Transatlantica Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. at the church, located at 15 Clark St. Admission to "Ave Maria: A Concert of Advent Motets" is free, and the event is open to the public.
Musica Transatlantica is a vocal ensemble made up of four singers who share of love of medieval and renaissance vocal music. Colleen Liggett, St. Mary’s cantor and choirmaster, is the quartet’s soprano.
The Dec. 13 concert will focus on the liturgical season of Advent and will feature some of Advent’s Scripture readings set to music by some of the most influential composers of the 15th and 16th centuries.
Musica Transatlantica also will perform a concert Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit, located at 1355 Hatch Road in Penfield.
