Volunteers are needed to assist in various capacities at Tioga Outreach Center, a division of Catholic Charities of Tioga/Tompkins.
Help is needed in picking up produce, bakery and dairy foods at stores and markets in Ithaca. The food must then be taken to Tioga Outreach Center, 505 Clark St., Waverly, in the former St. James School building. Volunteers must provide a large vehicle of their own. Pick-up days are every other Sunday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. According to Karen Demetros, director of the outreach center, the food is used for giveaways the next day.
Demetros added that Tioga Outreach Center is also seeking volunteers to perform such duties as answering phones and sorting clothes. In addition, donations are always welcomed.
