Numerous volunteers from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira were recognized at the hospital’s annual Volunteer and Auxiliary Awards Dinner, held June 8 at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Cliff Robinson was recognized for having reached 5,000 hours of volunteer service. In the past year, hospital volunteers have logged more than 24,000 cumulative hours in such areas as the front desk, gift shop, surgical waiting area, patient-questionnaire surveys, business office, medical records, Skilled Nursing Facility and special events.
During the banquet, the auxiliary presented Sister of St. Joseph Marie Castagnaro, hospital president, with a check for $35,000. This money is part of a pledge of $245,000 by the auxiliary, which raises funds through the hospital gift shop, basket auction, bake sale, theme gift baskets and other fundraisers.
Also at the gathering, the auxiliary approved its new slate of officers for the upcoming year: Sister Castagnaro, honorary president; Mary Navone, vice president; Jackie Manning, secretary; and Margaret Bennett, treasurer.
