Members of the various churches in Waterloo will come together May 2 to celebrate the National Day of Prayer.
The National Day of Prayer is intended to mobilize prayer in America and encourage personal repentance and righteousness. This year’s theme is “Love One Another.”
This annual celebration was created by a joint resolution of the United States Congress in 1952 and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The first Thursday of May has been set aside to commemorate this day each year since 1988.
In 2018 there were celebrations in honor of the National Day of Prayer in more than 50,000 locations, including Waterloo.
This year’s celebration will be May 2 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Waterloo Community Center, located at 3 Oak St.
