To the editor:
With flu season upon us physical contact with fellow parishioners must be considered. Many are uncomfortable with the hand shaking, hugging and kissing during winter months. A polite wave or nod of the head is acceptable, although after extending the hand and being rebuffed is at times embarrassing.
I don’t understand why the priest, at the beginning of Mass, does not put all at ease by stating the obvious. Physical contact should be abated during winter months until the flu/cold season is over. Watching people furiously scrubbing their hands with disinfectant afterwards is amusing but unnecessary.
