Why publish ‘distortions’?

To the editor:

It was very disappointing to see Ben Reed’s letter “Perceives ‘subtle bias'” in the October issue. It is hard to understand why the Courier would publish such a distortion of facts. When did the Catholic Church support preemptive wars on terror? Why was McCain’s strong support of the death penalty not mentioned? Most of the alleged Obama positions were gross distortions.

Could our newspaper raise our “letter” standards?
