Chemung County Ladies of Charity recently made a $750 donation to Elmira Community Kitchen — one of several social-ministry initiatives conducted by the Catholic women’s group during its 75th-anniversary year of 2015.
Other recent efforts include sponsoring a Christmas party for people served by Catholic Charities of Chemung/Schuyler, and supporting Catholic Charities in asking state legislators to support tax-credit initiatives. In addition, on Oct. 10 the Ladies of Charity hosted a joint meet-and-greet with Catholic Charities following the 4 p.m. Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. That event honored the 75th year of the Ladies of Charity along with the Catholic Charities agency’s 35th anniversary, which also occurred in 2015.
