Workshop focuses on child poverty

Providing a faith response to childhood poverty in Rochester is the focus of a workshop that will be held later this month.

Brigit Hurley will serve as the keynote speaker for the Northeastern Seminary’s symposium “Responses to Childhood Poverty: A Call to Justice.” She is a policy analyst with The Children’s Agenda, a nonprofit agency that seeks to improve the well-being of children. About a quarter of children in Monroe County live in poverty, according to data from ACT Rochester, which is a joint initiative of the Rochester Area Community Foundation and the United Way of Greater Rochester.

The workshop will be held March 15 at the Cultural Life Center, 2301 Westside Drive, Chili. For more information, e-mail seminary@nes.edu.
