Writer offers no sympathy

To the editor:

Regarding the CNS story “Bill would harm immigrants” by Nancy O’Brien in the January issue:

I am very disappointed that the church would stand for lawlessness. The minute an illegal sets foot in the country, a crime is committed. These illegals are not entitled to anything supported by hard workers’ tax dollars, including schools, hospitals or welfare. No child born to these illegals should be “entitled” to citizenship either.

My grandmother came from Ireland as an indentured servant, paid her debt and became a citizen. My husband’s grandfather came legally from Canada. He worked hard for seven years to bring his wife here legally.

I have no sympathy for these illegals. They don’t have the courage to stay and change their own country or to enter ours legally. They should not be supported by our government or churches. The only ones benefiting are the greedy businesses that hire them.
