Consistently honored for its superior photographic, video, web, and digital offerings as well as excellent print journalism, the Catholic Courier and El Mensajero Católico newspapers are looking for an intern with strong skills in still photojournalism and videography.
Schedule and pay
15-hour work week at $16/hr.
Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for on-assignment shooting, editing, toning, captioning, and posting photo and video content to the newspapers’ websites and social-media platforms. S/he will be expected to generate ideas for and produce long-term photo and video projects in addition to routine events coverage, portraits, photo illustrations, and other types of work.
Qualifications
Applicants should be pursuing a bachelor’s in Photography, Journalism, Communication, or a related field; possess photographic talent and technical skills; vision and creativity; news judgment; the ability to develop effective content for social media; a strong teamwork orientation; proficiency in Photoshop and Premiere Pro or Final Cut; familiarity with Catholic culture; excellent spelling and grammar. A valid NYS driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation also are essential.
