Adult Faith Formation – Does Science Contradict Faith?
November 3, 2022 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm EDT
Does neuroscience show that you don’t have a soul? Has quantum mechanics proven that free will is an illusion?
Join Church of the Assumption this fall on the first and third Thursdays for a series of discussions on Science and Faith. Each session will include one or more short, engaging video lessons followed by discussion. In these videos and during our discussions, people will learn from scientists, philosophers, and theologians about the harmony of truth — in order to dispel the illusion of conflict between science and faith.
Dates of the series: 9/1, 9/15, 10/6, 10/20, 11/3, 11/17, 12/1, 12/15. The series will take place in the parish’s Living Room.
These videos and discussions are part of the Aquinas 101 series, which is a project of the Thomistic Institute that seeks to promote Catholic truth in our contemporary world by strengthening the intellectual formation of Christians at universities, in the Church, and in the wider public square. The Thomistic Institute is an academic institute of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C. These sessions will be facilitated by Dr. Justin Pelletier, who is a lay member of the Dominican Order and an active Knight of Columbus in Fairport.
