Becoming Catholic

How can an adult become Catholic? Don Smith, coordinator of sacramental catechesis and family life for the Diocese of Rochester, describes the Catholic formation program for adults who have never been baptized or have not completed the sacraments of initiation in the Catholic Church. Smith also outlines the steps toward adult initiation, some of which take place during Lent and Holy Week.

One of the steps for candidates and catechumens participating in the adult initiation process in the Diocese of Rochester is the Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion, which took place at Sacred Heart Cathedral Feb. 18.
