Catholic-school students around the Diocese of Rochester took part in numerous activities celebrating catholic education as part of this year’s Catholic Schools Week, which was Jan. 26-Feb. 1.

Students at Brighton’s Siena Catholic Academy kicked off Catholic Schools Week by participating in the passing of the torch for the Empire State Winter Games. On Jan. 29, students from all of the diocese’s 18 Catholic schools were invited to Rochester’s Sacred Heart Cathedral to join Bishop Salvatore R. Matano at Mass. On Jan. 30, students at St. Agnes School in Avon were treated to a roller-skating party, while Canandaigua’s St. Mary School students competed in volleyball games. Students at St. Lawrence School in Greece volunteered in a day of service, sorting medical supplies at InterVol in Rochester.
