Catholic Marriage

Marriage is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. In this collection, find news, features, and columns highlighting Catholic views on marriage, including annulment and divorce. Each year, the Courier celebrates significant marriage milestones by publishing names of couples in the Diocese of Rochester reaching 25, 50 or 50-plus years of marriage.

The USCCB states that the Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant, which refers to “the relationship between the husband and wife, a permanent union of persons capable of knowing and loving each other and God. The celebration of marriage is also a liturgical act, appropriately held in a public liturgy at church. Catholics are urged to celebrate their marriage within the Eucharistic Liturgy.”
